Welcome To Veteran Watch!
Veteran Watch is a relatively new lobby group comprised of veterans concerned with all aspects of veteran welfare. We are an inclusive group dealing with issues and benefits that may effect war veterans, CF veterans, veterans of the past, present and those that still serve today in uniform, the veterans of the future.
Veteran Watch will pursue veteran issues into governmental departments and agencies, bureaucracies and through our political representatives. We will approach, question, query the Cabinet and the PMO. We are action oriented lobbyists focused on, but not restricted to the '5-Point Motion' first introduced to the House of Commons, 07 Nov 2006.
1.
Amend Section 31 (1) of the Canadian
Forces Superannuation Act so that second spouses of CF members and veterans have
access to pension rights upon the death of the Canadian Forces member or
veteran;
2.
Extend the Veterans Independence Program
(VIP) to all widows of all veterans, regardless of the time of death of the
veteran and regardless of whether the veteran was in receipt of VIP services
prior to his or her death;
3.
Increase the Survivor’s Pension Amount
upon death of Canadian Forces retiree to 66% from the current amount of 50%;
4.
Eliminate the unfair reduction of Service
Income Security Insurance Plan (SISIP) long term disability benefits from
medically released members of the Canadian Forces; and
5. Eliminate the deduction from annuity for retired and disabled CF members.
In addition, Veteran Watch will pursue veteran issues pertaining to:
Required amendments and adjustments to the New Veteran Charter;
VAC Ombudsman, establishment and terms of reference;
Veteran Bill of Rights;
CPP Issues;
Issues pertaining to RCMP pensioners and disabled members; and
OSI and PTSD Issues.
Veteran Watch is an independent lobby. We solicit no financial means or support of any kind from any level of government, businesses, associations or any other lobby group. Although we may act in concert with other veterans interest groups and associations that hold similar complaints and/or solutions, Veteran Watch will remain independent.
Veteran Watch is by no means associated with VeteranVoice.info except in the use of their host service provider. VeteranVoice.info is a dissemination tool. VeteranVoice.info does not advocate any one point of view, but rather is a tool for all veterans to review and to post information. Veteran Watch, on the other hand is an advocacy lobby group that will take stands on veteran issues and lobby the applicable authorities for change.
