Veteran Rally - Operation: Occupy Ottawa 06 June 2013

VVi 01 May 2012

My name is Fred Weaver and I live 28 K's south of Quesnel B.C. I am a veteran, having served  in the C.A.(R) with the R.C.E. and I am medically pensioned at 56 %.

We are currently in the early stages of planning to hold a Canadian Forces and R.C.M.P. rally in Ottawa at the Parliament Bldgs for the purpose of demanding that DVA make the necessary changes to the New Veterans Charter to better support our veterans and to stop the pillaging of the funds set aside in trust for the veterans.

The date selected is June 6th, 2013 ( the 69th anniversary of D-Day ) and fairly close to the next Federal election.

We are asking ALL veterans from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island to join us in Ottawa on that date. Please bring your motorhomes, travel trailers, campers or tents, as well as your medals and be prepared to stay at the Parliament grounds for as long as it takes. This will be a PEACEFUL rally but it is our intention to disrupt traffic flow in and around the city in order to garner as much media attention as possible.

Our plan is to spread the word through the various Retired Veterans Associations across Canada as well as the Royal Canadian Legion, Anavets and other veteran organizations. You can also help by telling your email buddies and phoning veterans who are not on line.

I have recently spoken with Col. Pat Stogran, our first Ombudsman who has offered to support this rally in every way and has also offered to lead a team of hand picked negotiators in dealing with DVA should the need arise.

Further information will be forthcoming as the planning progresses.  Any support, suggestions or ideas that you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Start planning now, form convoys with your friends AND MARK THIS DATE ON YOUR CALENDAR AND PLAN TO MEET US THERE.

Letter Writing Protest - New Action: Contact Your MP

VVi 10 Nov 2011

This week, we celebrate and honour the sacrifices and commitment of Canadian war veterans. It is a sacred time for the country.

However, next week, disabled veterans will continue their fight--once again--in Halifax Federal Court for fair treatment from their own government.

Tell your Member of Parliament to end this senseless litigation. Tell them to resolve the SISIP claw-back issue and to treat disabled veterans fairly.

More Information
This is the 5th year of the Class Action suit to stop the government from reducing SISIP Long Term Disability Benefits by the monthly VAC Disability Pension. This is a critical source of income for disabled veterans, and it should not be clawed back. So far the government has spent over half a million dollars on legal fees, trying to keep this claw-back in place for those most affected by it.

This is wrong, and the government has even admitted it by discontinuing the claw-back in 2006. But many have been left behind, and they deserve compensation for their sacrifices. LeaveNoVetBehind is the community of veterans seeking only to address the SISIP claw-back unfairness. Please show your support--if you are a veteran affected by SISIP, or have a loved one who has been, or you are a concerned citizen.

Click here to send a letter to your Member of Parliament, Prime Minister Harper, and Ministers MacKay and Blaney.

Please forward this email to your connections, and share http://leavenovetbehind.ca/letter on your social networks. Thank You.

Best Regards,
